- About The Experience

- Location Description
Located on a famous wine estate in the Chianti Classico area, this is a beautifully renovated and restored stone hamlet with views of vineyards and rolling hills. The hamlet is located two kilometers from the small town of Montefiridolfi which offers basic shops. It is conveniently located midway between the cities of Florence and Siena and close to the unofficial capital of the Chianti region: Greve in Chianti. Greve is a wonderful small town overlooked by the Castle of Montefioralle. Visit Piazza Matteotti for an espresso and explore the shops or pick up some local produce at the Saturday morning market. If you’re traveling in late summer or fall, expect to stumble upon food and wine festivals held regularly in the town. Traveling by car from this location is convenient as the exit from the Superstrada is in Tavernelle Val di Pesa.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
We enjoyed ourselves very much. The apartment was comfortable and the views wonderful. It was quiet and very relaxing. We slept more than normal -- probably because the inside shutters kept it so dark in the morning. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The rural location -- both for the scenery and the quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
The twin beds in our room. We let our friends have the King bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
This is one of a number of apartments in a restored stone farmhouse situated on a hilltop over looking vineyards. You can see the reception area for the management office below and villages on surrounding hilltops. It is a lovely, typically rural Tuscan view.
Events or Locales:
We arrrived on Friday and went to Greve on Saturday while the market was being held. That was fun, but we also drove to Florence, Lucca, Siena, and San Gimignano and enjoyed them all.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed many nice restaurants. The Osteria di Passignano (owned by Antinori) was classy and very nice. We also liked Trattoria del Pesce in Bargino for seafood. My two favorites, though, were in San Casciano -- Cafe Popolano and Cantinetta del Nonno. Both were less touristy and more local, family-oriented. One tip: unless you're a wine conossieur, order the house wine. We really enjoyed the locally bottled, inexpensive Chianti (5-6 euros a bottle).

Overall:
We fell in love with the property. It was great for me, my husband and my two children. It was also extremely maintained.
Enjoyed Most:
The master bedroom was spacious and it offered privacy with its own luxurious private bath. The views from the bedroom and terrace were breathtaking. In addition, a breakfast basket was offered every morning containing cereals, pate, toast, jams, milk, juice and more. Thank you for the recommendation!
Enjoyed Least:
The electricity went out due to a rainstorm once.
