Located on one of the Antinori estates in the Chianti Classico area, this is a beautifully renovated and restored stone hamlet with breathtaking views of vineyards and rolling hills. The hamlet is located midway between Florence and Siena, 8 km from Greve, and close to the small town of Montefiridolfi (1 km, basic shops). The town of Mercatale Val di Pesa is about 10 minutes away. The exit from the Superstrada is Tavernelle Val di Pesa. The estate consists of the main complex comprised of 17 apartments (Bianco apartments), reception desk, and pool area with taverna, and one farmhouse (Rosso apartments) housing seven beautiful apartments on the hillside. Access to the Rosso farmhouse is via about 2 km of a steep, unpaved road (common in the Chianti region). The apartments share a swimming pool (open May – end of October). Guests staying in the Rosso apartments can drive down the unpaved road to the pool, or, prepare for a long walk downhil (and uphill to return!). In addition, there is a gym, Turkish bath and sauna, and tennis court located at the main complex.

Enjoyed Most: For a family of five the property was very comfortable in size. It was spacious enought for us to eat in on several nights. Most of all, it is a beautiful property with a commanding view of the olive trees and grapevines. Unpleasant Surprises: The office closes by 6 or 7 pm Surrounding Area: The staff recommended some excellent restaurants which were within a 10-15 minute drive and reasonable in price. Tips or Restaurants: Take advantage of local restaurants and local wine or oil tours.

Overall: Enjoyed Most: This property was restored to very high standards---beautiful furnishings, high quality bathrooms. and kitchen. The view of the vineyards and surrounding countryside from the courtyard was magical at sunset. A winning combination of private apartments set on a large Antinori estate. Unpleasant Surprises: Definitely need a car---even to get to the pool
Breakfast was just a basket of cereal and crackers. A small cafe will be opening soon on the property. Surrounding Area: Great access to Florence, Siena and the Tuscan region. The colors in the scenery are right out of painting. Nearby Events or Locales: Our teenagers enjoyed Greve at night---Internet cafe, gelato, and soccer in the square. Mercatale is the closet town to the apartment for coffee in the morning. Not so pretty, but really friendly. Good little grocery stores with homemade food and sweets.
