Enjoyed Most:
The location.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Although advertised as a 2-bedroom unit, one of the bedrooms is a very small loft with stairs up to it. Once you get there it is extremely small.
Surrounding Area:
Very well located with easy access by foot to the city center, museums, markets, and restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
While two couples could occupy the unit, one would have a nice bedroom while the other would not.
Check In Out:
Went smoothly but there was no real inspection or sign off upon checkout so the status of the deposit is left somewhat up in the air.

Overall:
Overall it was just fabulous and I would go back in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed Most:
It was perfectly located in the central part of Florence within minutes walking of key locations, like the Uffizi, the Accademia, Santa Croce, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Very little and not worth mentioning. My daughters and wife would have liked a full length mirror...
Surrounding Area:
As I said, in addition to being able to walk to all the key sites, the location also afforded us great restaurants and shopping. As an extra treat, Vivoli's gelato, which is apparently one of the best in Florence, was just feet away from our front door. In addition, there was a restaurant Osteria on the ground floor of our building that turned out to be a great find. A little pricey but the food and service made it well worth it.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Outside Florence there are a number of small hills towns, the closest being Fiesole. It is easily and inexpensively accessed via the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found just about everything we needed. We were also surprised to find an unlimited free Internet connection in the apartment, which was nice for uploading pictures and checking email. We recommend the restaurant in the building and also one around the corner called La Maremma at Via Verdi 16.
Check In Out:
They even accommodated us with an earlier arrival. I called ahead a few days and they happily met me there at noon.

Enjoyed Most:
Very comfortable and nicely done. Great use of space.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Door to stairway was shut. The only access was the elevator. Would have preferred to have a fixed shower.
Surrounding Area:
Great location! We walked everywhere and could not have picked a better area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Right in Santa Croce!!
Tips or Restaurants:
Baldovina is a great restaurant right in Santa Croce.

Enjoyed Most:
It was a convenient location.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The noise from the restaurant below.
Surrounding Area:
Easy walk to many places we wanted to go.

May, 2004

Enjoyed Most:
The location is ideal for walking to all of Florence's old city attractions. Restaurants and small stores to pick up items for breakfast were very convenient.
Unpleasant Surprises:
It is a little noisy with the restaurant directly below, especially late at night when they are cleaning up.
Surrounding Area:
Florence was a great place to visit for art and we took a train to Pisa which was well worth seeing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Museums abound within easy walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Food was good, better, best - no need to worry about eating!

Overall:
The property was accessible to everything; clean, well set up, and full of the beautiful Florence atmosphere.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything!
Unpleasant Surprises:
The kitchen could do with a few more utensils as we loved being able to cook for ourselves. There was trouble with the hot water system but the local manager was on the case promptly and efficiently.
Surrounding Area:
We loved everything - Shops, Tourist sites, local Florence people. Everything is within walking distance. It was a fabulous experience all around.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant downstairs is fairly expensive but there are others.

Overall:
Delightful apartment in a lovely old tower building. Clean, bright and cheery. The deck off the upstairs bedroom was a nice treat.
Enjoyed Most:
The Location!
Surrounding Area:
It sits at the edge of the Santa Croce district, allowing fast access to both the old centro as well as the less traveled residential areas. Lots of great walking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was a Verdi concert at the local church. Great restaurant downstairs in our same building. Wonderful 'deli' across from Vivoli (also a treat). Best falafal in town right up the street.
