Enjoyed Most:
Great architecture. The grounds and views were beautiful. We felt like we were living on a movie set.
Unpleasant Surprises:
A few comfortable chairs in the living room would have been nice. But overall, no complaints.
Surrounding Area:
It's a great location. Fabulous views of castles, vineyards and Tuscan landscape all around. Can't avoid it.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Both the small towns of Montagnana and Baccaiano are within walking distance, although the roads are hilly. We drove for groceries to Montespertoli at the Coop.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything we needed was there. We spent New Years eve at Osteria del Molino on the road to Montespertoli. Fabulous meal and we were made to feel very welcome. Later through rentvillas comments in this website we found Il Focolare in Montagnana. After that we ate there every night. Great service and wine, they speak English and the food was superlative. We were winter visitors, so the dining facilities at castle were not open. That might be good information to give renters if it is available.
Check In Out:
Everything was fine.

Overall:
The owner and staff were very nice and helpful. It is run a little like a small hotel with many guests from different parts of Europe. It was fun.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool, the cafe, and hospitality of the staff.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The kitchen corner. The whole kitchen is inside a closet. If you like to cook it is not great, but if you eat out every meal it won't be a problem. They also have a nice restaurant and cafe on the property for meals and snacks.
Surrounding Area:
I bicycled to many different towns and areas and there is a lot to discover locally. The main reason we chose this place, however, was to be in striking distance of Florence, Pisa and Lucca, which we were.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take the bus to Florence. We took the advice of a previous visitor and it worked out well. Make sure to walk the property. There are a lot of interesting things to see.
If you go to Florence eat at Mario's Trattoria. It's no-frills but has great food at a good value in an area that can be expensive.

Overall:
A great place to stay with a family. Our daughter made lots of friends around the pool.
Enjoyed Most:
It was a beautiful castle. The rooms were of magnificent proportions and were beautifully decorated with frescos and appropriate furniture. It far exceeded our expectations.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The shower in the bathroom was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding countryside was beautiful and could be seen through the windows of the room.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Montagnana which is within walking distance but not with a pram. There's a good pizza place there called Cafe Negro - much better value than the dinners at the castle.

Overall: it was wonderful! All that we could have expected. Enjoyed Most: The location. It was such a beautiful place and so much ambiance.
Unpleasant Surprises: It was cold inside because the ceilings were so high. Surrounding Area: The views and the people. Nearby Events or Locales: Paolo,
from the pizzeria "Da Paolo" in Baccaiano and his wife were wonderful. The
guy from the AGIP, Daniele was very kind to give us a ride to Montegufoni
when our car broke down.
Tips or Restaurants: We ate almost every night at "Da Paolo" and whenever we didn't, we found it
wasn't as good! We received the little white book about how to do Italy
"Italian Style". It was very helpful but one thing missing from the packing
list was dishwashing soap.
