    Overall:
    Was a truly wonderful vacation!
    Enjoyed Most:
The location - we had wonderful evenings sitting out by the water watching the moonlit lake, the mountains in the background, and the sky full of stars. Wow! Also, being right on the pedestrian path into Cannero was a tremendous benefit that we took advantage of daily!
    Unpleasant Surprises:
Much like the others, I guess I'd say all the steps - but really, it was a mild inconvenience more than anything - given all the good food we were eating, having the steps too and from the house helped use work some of it off!
    Surrounding Area:
Just the fact that there were so many options of what to go see or do. We rented power boats for a day and cruised the lake on our own, took the ferry to a market across the lake, drove to Switzerland to a glacier, as well as just relaxing and enjoying the lake at the property. We didn't even scratch the surface!
    Nearby Events or Locales:
Cannero Riviera was right there, a short walk via the beautiful stone pedestrian path. We walked there once or twice daily, and during our week, there were 3 nights when there was some sort of festival or art fair with local foods or crafts represented all along the the main road on the waterfront. Wonderful!
    Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant right up the road, Ca' Bianca, was quite good, and definitely had the best atmosphere of all the places we tried - the garden has trellis covered tables right by the water with a truly excellent view. Highly recommended! As for things to bring, we would have been lost without our GPS! Finding the house was no problem, and of course around the lake is pretty straight forward, but if you desire to explore beyond that, having the GPS really reduced the stress!

    Overall:
There were seven of us in our family that stayed for three weeks. We consider it the most memorable vacation we've had together so far and we all hated to leave, even the children. We'll miss the beautiful weather, the view across the lake, the wonderful scenery, the great villa, the walks, the wonderful food and the friendly, helpful Italian people.
    Enjoyed Most:
It's hard to say, there were so many wonderful aspects of our stay. The villa was grand - lots of room, extraordinary views across the lake, small beach area, great for looking for "treasures" and swimming in the lake, nice location close to the little town and access to the ferry for "town-hopping", very quiet and peaceful and private. On top of this, the housekeeper was extremely helpful and willing to do anything necessary to make our stay enjoyable, including translating the language, explaining how everything worked, and deciphiring the workings of the telephone, calling taxis, etc. We will miss her.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
For me, the many stairs down to the villa and back up! were a challenge, but then, I'm no spring chicken! My fit children did just fine with the climb, although lugging heavy luggage up at the end of our stay was a bit of a chore, even for them.
    Surrounding Area:
We all loved hopping the ferry and going from town to town. There were big markets on certain days in each town which were interesting, besides all the museums, castles, shopping oh my!, restaurants, gondolas up mountains, parks, zoos, etc. There was so much to do and see, we never got enough.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Cannero Riviera, and only a 5 minute, easy walk. It had a little market, several restaurants all good that we tried, a fruit and meat market, a couple of hairdressers, one dress shop that had a little of just about everything hidden in it somewhere! a bank, two churches, a pharmacy, a river and waterfall - probably everything you might need while there.
    Tips or Restaurants:
Since everyone is different, with differing expectations, I'm not sure what to add. Of course the photo opportunities are wonderful. Maybe I'd bring an extra "fold up bag" to bring purchases home, if you like Italian linens as much as I do!. We used a canvas grocery bag to carry our groceries home from the markets as they don't always provide one. Good shoes with good soles for the cobblestone walkways. An umbrella as the weather can change rapidly. And as I said, all the restaurants we tried were equally good.
    Directions:
Driving in Italy is somewhat of a challenge, in that the road directions seldom give the names of the large towns, only the small ones which usually are not on maps. Also, there are seldom directions regarding North, South, East and West. It happened that I had brought a small compass which helped some, but we still got very lost and ended up heading in the wrong direction for some time. If taking a taxi, all this goes away. It cost about 150 euros from the villa to Malpensa airport and it was wonderful to sit back and relax and not worry about figuring out where we were going.
    Check In Out:
As we got so lost on the way in, we were very late in getting to the villa, and the housekeeper was still there waiting for us, and only worried about why we were so late. I had tried to call but couldn't figure out the phone. Checking out was also very easy, with no hassle.

    Overall:
We had a lovely time, the house was very nice and comfortable.
    Enjoyed Most:
The beach was delightful, and there are lots of fish to catch. We had planned to go and do more, but ended up staying around the property and the town, as we were so comfortable.
    Tips or Restaurants:
You do need water shoes, though, as the lake is rocky.
