Overall:
We had a great time and would be back again. We have been all over Italy and lived there for over 3 years. Finding this rental was quite a relaxing break. Plenty to do, and make sure to enjoy the great food. We had long lunches and lazy days, what more could you ask for!
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the serenity, the amazing area.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Mosquitoes and the stairs, but you are in Italy, and if I had wanted a hotel I would have gotten one. What we recieved was a true Italian experience.
Surrounding Area:
Went to the Isle of Capri and it was great, the caves and the boat ride were outstanding. Went up and down the coast. Found Capri very fun at night. Went to Positano, very beautiful little town, rented a speed boat and off we went! The girls loved the shopping. Then we hit some small beaches, really did not have a game plan and the flexibility worked to our advantage.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori is right down the hill. We drove there and the roads are madness, but once you get used to the roads, it is a welcome freedom to be able to drive to the store and pick up all the supplies for a grand meal on the terrace.
Tips or Restaurants:
Keep an open mind, really. If you want room service go to a hotel. If you want an Italian vacation then, this is the place. The stairs can be a bit of a drag, but be optimistic, you get your work-out in for the day. Would not recommend this place if you are in a wheel chair. Bring lots of anti-bug candles. If you spray properly the bugs can be beaten.
Check In Out:
Well, thankfully we had our cell phone, but if you do not have one, you may have to wait in the town while you get a phone card and then figure out the telephones.

Enjoyed Most:
The view was beautiful, the sundeck area at the water was lovely. It was nice to have a quiet week in a villa after traveling around Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii, etc. Even though the street above was busy, the villa was sufficiently below the street that the only bad noises were from the busses honking.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The parking situation. To enter and exit the parking space you have to open the garage gate and carefully maneuver the car in a tight space while essentially interrupting both lanes of traffic on a blind turn on the busy main coastal road. It's close enough to town that most drivers are expecting obstacles but it's pretty hairy nonetheless and you often need someone to stand out of the car and direct traffic. Also, I had forgotten that parking was an extra 125 Euros cash. Parking is included for Unit 1 but not for 2, even though there are 2 spaces. Perhaps the owners use the other now and then. On the first and last day the keyholder made us try to squeeze in 3 cars which was quite a feat. Also, the beds were 2 small twin beds that a married couple could push together but since the frames were antique and the mattresses old, we never really could bridge the gap.
Surrounding Area:
we're avid hikers, so we enjoyed all the meandering hikes through the local villages. these are old trails, paved with stone steps, most are lit up at night. many are very steep and can be hard on the knees, but you can always catch a bus back. We also drove to villages in the hills above Ravello and hiked out in the countryside. Another great trip was Paestum, the Greek ruins south of Salerno.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori is a great little town, just 500m down the road. You can also walk about a third of the way and then turn down a stairway that takes you directly to the part of town which is down by the beach. Nice cafes, beach is ok, too, but we preferred the sundeck area at our villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good restaurants in Minori--Il Giardinello and there was a seafood restaurant across from the beach that Filomena recommended whose name escapes me. In Ravello, Cumpa Cosimo was charming and reasonable. You need to bring or buy all your food, spices, etc. even toilet paper, paper towels and sponges. It helps to bring/buy that stuff before you get there because a lot of places are closed on Sunday and most stores are closed between lunch and 4 pm. There are several shops in Minori.
Directions:
If you're driving, park in town first and walk up to locate the property. The road is too busy to locate it by car, and you can't park anywhere outside the place. Alternatively, you could call the keyholder from town and if she is at the property she can meet you standing with the garage gate open.

Overall:
I have stayed in a number of rental villas in Italy, but this was a real standout. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. I hope to return, hopefully next year, with enough friends to fill the place. It would be a great property for this. By the way, there were fresh figs in season.
Enjoyed Most:
Just about everything. The views, the terraces, and the beach access were extraordinary. Both Ravello and Minori were very convenient. The accommodation was very nice. Somewhere above the villa they played Ave Maria every morning. What a pleasant way to wake up! And fireworks at least three of the nights that we were there.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The dining-living area could have been a little more inviting. The table was fine, but the seating area wasn't that conducive to relaxing. The walk along the road at night was a little scary, but hard to avoid.
Surrounding Area:
The walk to Ravello was a little taxing, but just enough exercise to make you feel like you deserved a good meal. Enjoyed the walk into Minori and the small restaurants and shops there. Also I recommend the water taxis rather than the buses as a means of moving around the coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori, yes. It was an easy walk but as I said the traffic made it a little intimidating at night.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved Cumpa Cosimo in Ravello. Very homey with great food and a classic family atmosphere. Plalzzo Sasso in Ravello had excellent food and service, but was indeed pricey, still a good value Enoteca Sirah in Minori was an excellent place to buy wine, with great advice on local wines.
Directions:
We took the bus. There is actually a bus stop directly across from the villa, but you need to know where to ask the bus driver to stop. When we left, we took a taxi directly from the house to Naples airport for 80 euros. This took about 75 minutes, was very low stress compared to other transport options, and included and spectacular drive up through the mountains.
