Positioned on the top of a lush hill, located halfway between the Tuscany towns of San Gimignano and Poggibonsi, this apartment is perfectly situated for local excursions by car, and day trips to some of the best Tuscan sights. You can do your household shopping at the local PAM in Poggibonsi, ten minutes by car. Turn the other direction, and head into San Gimignano, with its majestic towers guiding you across the Sienese countryside into the Elsa Valley. You will feel as though time stands still in this medieval town, with its palaces, fountains, and ancient architecture. Be sure to visit the Duomo, as well as the churches and piazzas. For a different view of the Chianti countryside, head into Volterra, famous for its Etruscan museums. See the Duomo in this town, too, and marvel at the Renaissance fortress, the Mastio. For longer day trips, try Florence, Pisa, and Lucca. All three are well worth the trip, as you will find the countryside drive is just as gorgeous as the sights in the museums, parks, and art houses. Stop at local vineyards along the way for some regional wine-tasting or local gastronomy. Traditional Tuscan dinners and wine-tasting are also available at your own apartment complex as well, so be sure to indulge yourself in the authentic cuisine.

Ancient complex that belonged to the noble Acciaiuoli family and then to the Royal House of the Savoia family, made up of the manor villa and its annexes. 15 apartments have been created from the attentive and recent restoration, all of which have been tastefully furnished and equipped with all the modern conveniences including air conditioning. The property is situated in a beautiful hillside position halfway between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano. Florence and Siena can easily be reached in about 30 minutes by car. At the guests disposal: equipped outdoor areas, beautiful swimming pool and a large cellar and a garden where it is possible to dine 3 times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) tasting local wines and typical traditional Tuscan dishes.

Living/dining room, kitchenette, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedded room, 2 bathrooms with shower. Going up a stairway from the living room you enter an open overhead gallery with divan and TV.
EQUIPMENT: Satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, freezer (except CORTENNANO 7), microwave/grill, shared laundry room (washing machine, dryer).
OUTDOORS: Garden and shared equipped outdoor areas,swimming pool (8x6m), car park.
SERVICES
INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Gardener, consumption of water, electricity, gas for the kitchen and hot water production, heating, final cleaning and air conditioning (9/6-8/9). Luggage transport at check-in and check-out from the car park to the apartment and viceversa.
ON REQUEST AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Domestic help, extra linen change, extra cleaning, swimming pool towels, use of the laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) baby-bed, dinners, mountain bikes, guided tours of the cities of art and gastronomic cities, cooking and pottery lessons.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: Arrivals after 8 p.m. will not be accepted.
LOCATION: 5 km Poggibonsi, 4 km San Gimignano, 30 km Siena, 40 km Florence. 5 km horse riding and tennis, 12 km golf course, 50 km Florence airport.
ACCESS: 2 km of dirt track road.
NOTE: People beyond the maximum number of sleeping spaces, including children up to the age of 2, are not allowed. Children are welcome guests but, given the structure of the house, the antique furniture, the absence of equipped areas suitable for playing in, parents must pay special attention to the children present; this is to guarantee a peaceful and serene holiday for the guests. Finally, the guests must read the regulations of the house and respect them during their stay. Any group bookings must be agreed upon beforehand. For bookings during 31/3-14/4 there is a discount of 15% from the price list.

Overall:
We just loved this place and plan to visit again some time in the future.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, people, cleanliness, atmosphere, natural beauty, and the staff. The meals were also excellent.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The laundry; it takes too long to do one load. Also, when in the bathroom or taking a shower we could hear every word from some other apartments.
Surrounding Area:
The natural beauty and San Gimignano. There is access to Siena and we also drove to Florence and Assisi
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano is a gem. Some people at the villa hiked but we chose to drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do not expect to do your laundry quickly. A rental car with GPS enabled us to see other areas. I could not blow dry my hair even with an adapter

Overall:
We are already planning on returning to Tuscany, to this same villa, as soon as possible.
Enjoyed Most:
The entire property was fabulous! Situated on top of a hill overlooking vineyards and olive groves. The towers of San Gimignano were visible from our uppermost sitting room in our villa apartment. Just beautiful! The property is very well maintained. The photos seen of the residence prior to arrival do not do justice to the overall quality of the total restoration work done to this lovely house. The owners are absolutely wonderful people! We have made fabulous new friends in Tuscany and intend on returning very soon!

San Gimignano is 3km from this property, about 1 hour walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Dinners at the villa are optionally available 3 nights per week. Fabulous local cuisine, prepared by the owners' mother! A must for anyone staying at this property and at a reasonable price, for a 4-course dinner! The food here rivalled that of any of the better restaurants we dined at during our stay. We did not have a bad meal anywhere in Tuscany. Crowded sidewalk cafes or hidden back street restaurants all serve extremely good food. Bring lots of enthusiasm!
Directions:
Very easy to find, per the directions given. A 2-3km dirt road up hill to the property was no problem. We could see a fabulous villa from the main road, but couldn't believe what we were seeing was the actual villa property we were about to check into. Seemed like a dream come true.
Check In Out:
Absolutely smooth process. Leave your bags in the car. The owners take them to and from your villa apartment, check-in and check-out.

The people managing the property were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect.

There was no terrace with the unit and the living room was upstairs with very high windows.
