Positioned on the top of a lush hill, located halfway between the Tuscany towns of San Gimignano and Poggibonsi, this apartment is perfectly situated for local excursions by car, and day trips to some of the best Tuscan sights. You can do your household shopping at the local PAM in Poggibonsi, ten minutes by car. Turn the other direction, and head into San Gimignano, with its majestic towers guiding you across the Sienese countryside into the Elsa Valley. You will feel as though time stands still in this medieval town, with its palaces, fountains, and ancient architecture. Be sure to visit the Duomo, as well as the churches and piazzas. For a different view of the Chianti countryside, head into Volterra, famous for its Etruscan museums. See the Duomo in this town, too, and marvel at the Renaissance fortress, the Mastio. For longer day trips, try Florence, Pisa, and Lucca. All three are well worth the trip, as you will find the countryside drive is just as gorgeous as the sights in the museums, parks, and art houses. Stop at local vineyards along the way for some regional wine-tasting or local gastronomy. Traditional Tuscan dinners and wine-tasting are also available at your own apartment complex as well, so be sure to indulge yourself in the authentic cuisine.

Ancient complex that belonged to the noble Acciaiuoli family and then to the Royal House of the Savoia family, made up of the manor villa and its annexes. 15 apartments have been created from the attentive and recent restoration, all of which have been tastefully furnished and equipped with all the modern conveniences including air conditioning. Cortennano is situated in a beautiful hillside position halfway between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano. Florence and Siena can easily be reached in about 30 minutes by car. At the guests disposal: equipped outdoor areas, beautiful swimming pool and a large cellar and a garden where it is possible to dine 3 times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) tasting local wines and typical traditional Tuscan dishes. LOCATION: 5 km Poggibonsi, 4 km San Gimignano, 30 km Siena, 40 km Florence. 5 km horse riding and tennis, 12 km golf course, 50 km Florence airport.ACCESS: 2 km of dirt track road.

ON REQUEST AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Domestic help, extra linen change, extra cleaning, swimming pool towels, use of the laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) baby-bed, dinners, mountain bikes, guided tours of the cities of art and gastronomic cities, cooking and pottery lessons. NOTE: People beyond the maximum number of sleeping spaces, including children up to the age of 2, are not allowed. Children are welcome guests but, given the structure of the house, the antique furniture, the absence of equipped areas suitable for playing in, parents must pay special attention to the children present; this is to guarantee a peaceful and serene holiday for the guests. Finally, the guests must read the regulations of the house and respect them during their stay. Any group bookings must be agreed upon beforehand.

Overall:
Very much enjoyed the Tuesday dinners at the Villa very much - excellent food and wine and service by the family.
Enjoyed Most:
Very pleased with location, well maintained property, delightful owners who run the villa with 14 well appointed "apartments."
Unpleasant Surprises:
Not much to complain about - laundry service a bit slow, but allows for social meetings of the other guests! Tokens for the machines purchased in the office - 5 euros.
Surrounding Area:
Perfect for sightseeing, visiting San Gimignano, Siena, Chianti area. Tours can be arranged from the Villa if required.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano - approx 4 km. Nice hike throuth vineyards if so inclined - PAM supermarket close by.

Directions were very good - road to Villa is unpaved - rough, but makes for a picturesque drive Entrance to the Villa very handsome.

Enjoyed Most:
The dining option 3 times per week. The food is AMAZING! The presentation alone makes you not want to eat it - and the dinners are so delicious we found ourselves dining at the property every chance we could! The property is also equally amazing.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The is no real living room in this rental. If we had realized this before, we would have chosen a different unit.
Tips or Restaurants:
Eat at the property every chance you get.

Overall:
We loved it and how friendly the owners were.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were spectacular!! Extremely clean and modern bathroom. The inn keepers were very friendly.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Getting better information about reservations at restaurants and having to book certain tickets in advance before setting off on our adventures.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty and how close we were to some of the best places that we wanted to visit.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano, you could walk if you wanted to, but we drove.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you book reservations for restaurants, museums and wine tours in advance, at least when you arrive. The BEST restaurant in Florence is I Latini - but make sure you have a reservation. There were at least 200 people waiting to get in, all of which had reservations, except for us! We went back the next night and found it to be the best place we found.
