Positioned on the top of a lush hill, located halfway between the Tuscany towns of San Gimignano and Poggibonsi, this apartment is perfectly situated for local excursions by car, and day trips to some of the best Tuscan sights. You can do your household shopping at the local PAM in Poggibonsi, ten minutes by car. Turn the other direction, and head into San Gimignano, with its majestic towers guiding you across the Sienese countryside into the Elsa Valley. You will feel as though time stands still in this medieval town, with its palaces, fountains, and ancient architecture. Be sure to visit the Duomo, as well as the churches and piazzas. For a different view of the Chianti countryside, head into Volterra, famous for its Etruscan museums. See the Duomo in this town, too, and marvel at the Renaissance fortress, the Mastio. For longer day trips, try Florence, Pisa, and Lucca. All three are well worth the trip, as you will find the countryside drive is just as gorgeous as the sights in the museums, parks, and art houses. Stop at local vineyards along the way for some regional wine-tasting or local gastronomy. Traditional Tuscan dinners and wine-tasting are also available at your own apartment complex as well, so be sure to indulge yourself in the authentic cuisine.

Overall:
We couldn't have asked for anything more in a vacation! It was absolutely wonderful. The property was extremely clean, it had wonderful areas outside to sit and eat. The pool looked wonderful, though it was too cold to swim when we were there. Sandra and family were so nice and helpful in providing directions or advice on things to do. I looked at lots of properties before traveling and we couldn't have been happier with our selection.
Enjoyed Most:
The best part was the beautiful view, the family that owned the villa and the terrific location. The meals we ate at the property were amazing.
Unpleasant Surprises:
A little noisy at times. The shower was a little small, but manageable. I didn't do laundry, but heard it wasn't the best from other guests. 5 Euros to wash, 5 Euros to dry, and it takes a long time given the small loads.
Surrounding Area:
It is in a peaceful, beautiful setting, but yet a quick drive to Florence, Siena and all the other small surrounding towns. The people were extremely nice. We found it very easy to navigate and find our way to the various towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano was the closest small town. You could walk, but we always drove - about a 5-10 min drive. Poggibonsi is about a 10 minute car drive away, as well, where there is a wonderful grocery store, PAM. We bought breakfast items, snacks, drinks and of course, wine and cheese!
Tips or Restaurants:
Do your grocery shopping at PAM in Poggibonsi. Definitely eat at least one meal at the property as other people said; it is the best you will find. Volterra is a lovely town and worth the trip. Bring a hair dryer.
Directions:
The directions were great and we didn't have any trouble.
Check In Out:
There were several families checking in when we got there, so we had to wait a few minutes. The weather was nice and we just sat and talked on the terrace, so it was fine.

Overall:
The villa is in a great, central location. We made day trips to Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca, and Chianti. We'll definitely go back in the future!
Enjoyed Most:
I can't say enough about the owners. They were so friendly and helpful and always willing to provide suggestions and directions. Not to mention, the dinners that they prepared and served in their wine cellar on property were the best we had in Tuscany! I highly recommend taking advantage of these dinners - four courses and great company for 25 Euros a person. Definitely worth it!
Unpleasant Surprises:
The shower ... it was very small and didn't include a shelf for shampoo, soap, etc. The variable water pressure and temperature was a minor inconvenience, as well.
Surrounding Area:
The proximity to San Gimignano was great. We had dinner there twice ... once at Trattoria Chiribiri - best gnocchi - and once at Osteria del Carcere - best bruschetta. Both were great! I highly recommend making reservations, though, as the restaurants are small and many people without reservations are turned away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano was the nearest town. It was a little too far for us to walk. The drive is about 10-15 minutes on a windy, dirt road. There are great views of the town as you make your way there. We pulled over and snapped a few photos ourselves!
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't forget to bring a travel alarm clock because one is not provided. Also, if you plan on cooking, it would be smart to bring seasonings with you to save some money. There is a large supermarket, Pam, in Poggibonsi, which is on your way to the Villa if you're coming from the Florence airport. I highly recommend you stop there on your way in and pick up some drinks and snacks Don't' forget wine and olives! Be sure to wear the plastic gloves provided when picking out your produce. You'll have to weigh it yourself and adhere the sticker to the bag. When checking out, you'll be asked how many grocery bags you want ... don't ask for too many because you have to pay for each of them. I saw some locals bringing in their own bags ... not a bad idea. You'll need to bag your own groceries as well.

Overall:
The place was more than anticipated, view, food, etc. However, there is no internet, which was frustrating at times.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and relaxation.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The noise issues with the other guests.
Surrounding Area:
The walks through the vineyards and to San Gimignano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano was about an hour walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring extra film as the prices are extremely high in Italy.
Check In Out:
We arrived early and the check in was busy, thus making the process slow. Check out was fine.
