Positioned on the top of a lush hill, located halfway between the Tuscany towns of San Gimignano and Poggibonsi, this apartment is perfectly situated for local excursions by car, and day trips to some of the best Tuscan sights. You can do your household shopping at the local PAM in Poggibonsi, ten minutes by car. Turn the other direction, and head into San Gimignano, with its majestic towers guiding you across the Sienese countryside into the Elsa Valley. You will feel as though time stands still in this medieval town, with its palaces, fountains, and ancient architecture. Be sure to visit the Duomo, as well as the churches and piazzas. For a different view of the Chianti countryside, head into Volterra, famous for its Etruscan museums. See the Duomo in this town, too, and marvel at the Renaissance fortress, the Mastio. For longer day trips, try Florence, Pisa, and Lucca. All three are well worth the trip, as you will find the countryside drive is just as gorgeous as the sights in the museums, parks, and art houses. Stop at local vineyards along the way for some regional wine-tasting or local gastronomy. Traditional Tuscan dinners and wine-tasting are also available at your own apartment complex as well, so be sure to indulge yourself in the authentic cuisine.

Ancient complex that belonged to the noble Acciaiuoli family and then to the Royal House of the Savoia family, made up of the manor villa and its annexes. 15 apartments have been created from the attentive and recent restoration, all of which have been tastefully furnished and equipped with all the modern conveniences including air conditioning. The property is situated in a beautiful hillside position halfway between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano. Florence and Siena can easily be reached in about 30 minutes by car. At the guests disposal: equipped outdoor areas, beautiful swimming pool and a large cellar and a garden where it is possible to dine 3 times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) tasting local wines and typical traditional Tuscan dishes.

SERVICES
INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Gardener, consumption of water, electricity, gas for the kitchen and hot water production, heating, final cleaning and air conditioning (9/6-8/9). Luggage transport at check-in and check-out from the car park to the apartment and viceversa.
ON REQUEST AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Domestic help, extra linen change, extra cleaning, swimming pool towels, use of the laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) baby-bed, dinners, mountain bikes, guided tours of the cities of art and gastronomic cities, cooking and pottery lessons.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: Arrivals after 8 p.m. will not be accepted.
LOCATION: 5 km Poggibonsi, 4 km San Gimignano, 30 km Siena, 40 km Florence. 5 km horse riding and tennis, 12 km golf course, 50 km Florence airport.
ACCESS: 2 km of dirt track road.
NOTE: People beyond the maximum number of sleeping spaces, including children up to the age of 2, are not allowed. Children are welcome guests but, given the structure of the house, the antique furniture, the absence of equipped areas suitable for playing in, parents must pay special attention to the children present; this is to guarantee a peaceful and serene holiday for the guests. Finally, the guests must read the regulations of the house and respect them during their stay. Any group bookings must be agreed upon beforehand. For bookings during 31/3-14/4 there is a discount of 15% from the price list.

Enjoyed Most:
The property managers were very helpful and friendly. The dinner the first night was fantastic. The view from the kitchen window and panoramic views from the property were incredible. The central location in Tuscany was perfect for exploring towns to the north, east and south. Other residents were very friendly and considerate. We loved the property.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The only negatives about our villa were the couch and lack of a shower, just a bath. The couch just had throw pillows for a back. It was not the couch pictured on the web page.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed easy access to a grocery store, fairly easy access to the bus stop for an express bus to Florence, very quick access to San Gimignano where there were great restaurants and wonderful, easy shopping. All in all, it's in a beautiful area with convenient services.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring toilet paper and a wash cloth and an extra towel as change of towels during the week is extra. Stock up at the Pam grocery store at the roundabout in north Poggibonsi on Saturday before going to the villa. Enjoy the fabulous cheese department there. Shop for bread, cheese, wine, juice, fruit, tea or coffee and large bottles of water for refilling a small water bottle to take everywhere. Be aware that Tuscan bread contains no salt and can seem rather tasteless when you are choosing breakfast bread. We enjoyed Tuscan bread when eaten with cheese. You cannot purchase food or supplies anywhere on Sunday.
Directions:
It would be helpful to note that there are two Poggibonsi exits off the superstrada, Poggibonsi and Poggibonsi Nord. Take the Poggibonsi Nord. We took the first and went through town.

The staff members were very friendly, helpful and answered all questions clearly.

Overall:
We will definitely go back and plan to stay here again.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was very convenient to the different areas that we were interested in seeing. The views from just about every angle took our breath away. Meals were fantastic. Decor was charming. We enjoyed laying out at the pool and looking out over the vineyards however, we went the first week of May and the water temp is still to cold to swim. Days were sunny, nights were chilly.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The walls are VERY thin. Also, I think construction was going on around the area which made the noise level much louder. No terrace leading off of our unit.
Surrounding Area:
The closeness of the vineyards for wine tastings. The convenience of the other cities.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano is in walking distance. Poggibonsi is only 10 minutes away by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Careful what you plug in. Even with an adapter. We fried our digital camera adapter-charger and my hot curlers. Definitely stop at PAM in Poggibonsi on your way up and get supplies. Bring extra soap and toilet paper. If you're planning to go to Florence, Siena, Pisa, drive into Poggibonsi and take the bus. It's about 18 Euros round-trip for two and well worth it!!
Check In Out:
When they tell you to let them get your bags, please allow them to do so. They have spent a great deal of money in regards to painting the walls, etc., and would prefer to carry them for you to avoid dings and dents. They don't mind and will not accept tips.

Overall:
The owners treated us like family. The property is meticulously maintained and the time we spent there was the best week of our month in Italy.
Enjoyed Most:
The location outside San Gimignano was great. The pool was large and well maintained. The views across the valley were lovely, the staff were very friendly, and the dinners available three times a week were really enjoyable.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The walls separating the apartments were not soundproof. Bring insect repellent.
Surrounding Area:
Authentic Tuscan countryside, the closeness to San Gimignano was a big plus and Siena was only 40 minutes by car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Poggibonsi was the closest town with a supermarket 10 mins by car, but is a modern city not woth sightseenig. San Gimignano was the closest town, 12 mins by car for sightseeing.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant at the villa has great food and views, but is only open three nights per week. Ask the staff for recommendations in San Gimignano, they will also ring and book for you.
Directions:
Nice that it gives directions coming from north or south.
