This classic Italian rental rests on a hillside above the historic village of Settignano, considered an ideal place for rest and meditation. It is a place filled with vines and olive groves, with roots all the way back to Roman times. If you take the time to explore its streets, you’ll find the Church of Saint Maria, the New Public Square (which provides a panoramic view of Florence as well as a lovely statue), the Oratory of Vannella, the Villa Michelangelo (where the artist spent his youth), and the Villa Capponcina. There are also paths for scenic walks around the countryside. From the main square in Settignano, you can take bus #10 into Florence.

And, in fact, the most stunning aspect of this estate is its beautiful gardens, famous throughout Italy. Undergoing additions and revisions throughout the centuries, today Tenuta di Settignano is a mix of ancient and modern beauty, rife with stylized topiary, stone statues, garden pools, and lichen-spotted walls. The family in ownership after World War II began the process of restoration and preservation which makes this historic estate a pleasure to inhabit today. Because of their significance, the gardens surrounding the villa (and four apartments) are open to the public by appointment, so your party may not have entirely private access—a small price to pay for inhabiting a piece of Italian history.

Villa Settignano: This historic and beautiful villa sleeps 15, and has several dining and living rooms on both floors, not to mention the first floor terrace looking over the spectacular gardens.
Settignano - Capella: Located on the bowling green, this comfortable apartment dates back to the seventeenth century, when it was originally built to serve as a chapel to the villa. Today, it still retains the architectural characteristics that identify it as such. It sleeps 6 with 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Settignano - Palla: Although it is now a vacation rental, this seventeenth century building was once an indoor ball court for palla a corda, a traditional Tuscan game. Windows look out onto the gardens, as well as views of Settignano and Florence. It sleeps 6 with 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Settignano - Limonaia: This historic fifteenth century farmhouse once belonged to the family of Bernardo Rossellino, the distinguished sculptor and architect. Adjacent to the limonaia, where the lemon trees are stored during the winter, the building is surrounded by potted lemon trees. The apartment sleeps 8 with 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Settignano - Rossellino: Along with Limonaia, this little apartment also belonged to the family of the sculptor/architect Bernardo Rossellino. This petite apartment sleeps 2.

Available Amenities: All residences are equipped with kitchens (please see individual descriptions for specific appliances). The villa has its own pool, while the other residences share another pool (both open from May to the first of October). Heating included, change of bed and bath linens twice a week. Air conditioning in the apartments and in the bedrooms of the villa. Parking available.
Extra Services: Breakfast, lunch, dinner possible upon request. All extra services are payable locally, in cash.
